I did play for a while, around 1959 I guess. I do remember a teacher (I think Walters of Biology) driving us in a minibus to Pangbourne, to play the naval cadets; and possibly the same master taking us on the coach to Witney to play. Lord knows what sins the teacher had committed to be lumbered with...

Me too (1954-1961). Can't remember her ever getting out of that limo, don't think she stayed long, sadly.

I doubt whether anyone at school really knew him. I do remember him (I was in the same forms as John Camp above) as a boy with a strong and sardonic personality, observing everyone and everything around him with an amused view that no doubt found its way later into his songs.
